Italia Nostra

Italia Nostra is the oldest national association for the defense of Italy's historical, cultural and environmental heritage. It was created in 1955 by Umberto Zanotti-Bianco, Giorgio Bassani, Elena Croce, Desideria Pasolini Dall'Onda, Pietro Trompeo, and Hubert Howard.

The association has its main office in Rome and over 200 sections across the country. Italia Nostra stays rigorously outside party politics. The assocation has its own, independent policies for historical preservation, territorial planning and landscape protection. For over 40 years, Italia Nostra has contributed to promoting a national culture of conservation, based on the respect of natinal historical and human heritage.

The national president is Desideria Pasolini Dall'Onda.
