On Venice

• Prof. Edoardo Salzano, retired professor of planning and former city government leader, has an extensive site about urban issues. This link goes to his English pages on Venice.
• The Venice chapter of LIPU (Lega Italiana Protezione Uccelli, the Italian League for the Protection of Birds) has web pages in English.
• To protect Venice against flooding, an independent engineer, Alberto Pellegrinotti, has proposed an innovative system of "ship-gates", a low-impact alternative to the official Mo.S.E. Project.
• Finally, the New Venice Consortium of construction companies has a joint site with the government agency that (on paper) oversees it. We oppose the consortium's monopolistic "exclusive concession" for public works in the Lagoon of Venice, as well as its plans for a huge dam system.
